Room for your experience
You may identify as bisexual, bi+, pansexual or use another word. You may be exploring what fits. Therapy can make room for that experience without treating uncertainty, fluidity or attraction to more than one gender as a problem.
Room for what matters to you
Being believed
Explore the impact of being dismissed, described as confused or having your identity overlooked.
Disclosure and visibility
Think about whether and how to come out in family, work, friendships or relationships, on your own terms.
Relationships and trust
Discuss boundaries, communication, jealousy or assumptions others make about attraction and commitment.
Belonging across communities
Explore feeling excluded in both LGBTQ+ and heterosexual spaces, or finding people who understand you.
Identity and self-acceptance
Make space for questions and change without pressure to justify your history or settle on a label.
Your wider life
Anxiety, grief, work stress, low mood and everyday relationship concerns are as welcome as questions about sexuality.
Who you are is not determined by the gender of your current partner.
A relationship does not erase an identity
Being read as straight or gay because of a partner can leave important parts of your experience unseen. Other people’s assumptions about fidelity, attraction or relationship style may add pressure.
We can explore what you want others to understand, where disclosure feels useful and how to protect your boundaries. We will not assume that bisexuality implies any particular relationship structure or behaviour.
Understanding, at your pace
A place to speak freely
I will respect how you describe your sexuality. You do not need to justify your identity or your relationship history before we can talk about what is troubling you.
Understanding your experience
We can look at the effect of other people’s assumptions, questions about disclosure or difficulties in relationships. Your own experience will guide our conversations.
Changes we can work towards
We can work on the changes you want in everyday life, including boundaries, communication and ways of responding when you feel dismissed or misunderstood.
Before we begin
Am I welcome if I am in a different-gender relationship?
Yes. Your partner’s gender does not decide whether your identity is valid or whether you can seek affirming support.
Do I need experience with more than one gender?
No. You do not need to provide evidence about your relationships or sexual history to have your identity respected.
Can I use a different label, or no label?
Yes. You can use the language that feels right for you, including pansexual, queer, bi+ or no label at all.
